FAQs and Studio Specs for Voice Actors

The questions every client asks a voice actor, answered on your own site

A voice actor gets asked the same things by nearly every new client. What microphone do you use? Can you do a live directed session? How fast is your turnaround? Until now the answers lived in emails, retyped each time. Voice actor accounts now have two places to put them once.

Studio Specs

Under Credits there is a new screen called Studio Specs. It is a set of 24 questions about your setup, and you fill in the answers. You cannot change the questions, and that is the point: every voice actor on the platform answers the same 24, so a producer comparing two artists compares like with like instead of reading two differently worded paragraphs.

Once you have answered, it becomes a page on your site. It appears on Website, then Pages, switched off until you turn it on, and you can rename it or place it inside another page.

FAQs

Next to it is FAQs, a plain list of questions and answers you write yourself. Drag them into order. Every field saves as you leave it, so a half-finished list is never lost to a missed Save button. Switching one off hides it without deleting it. It reaches your site the same way Studio Specs does, as a page of its own.

A demo reel on your front page

Voice actor sites now put the demo reel on the home page, on every design. It shows one labeled button per playlist, Commercial or Narration or whatever you have named them, and the player plays straight through the tracks. That builds on reels and playlists. The player on the audio page is playlist style too, and every track has a download button for the casting assistant who needs the file in a folder, not a link.

A few smaller things for voice accounts:

What to write

Be specific in Studio Specs. "Treated booth" says less than the size and the treatment. For FAQs, write down the last five questions a client emailed you, word for word, and answer them. That is your list.

If you are choosing a design, VoiceNow was built for voice work, though your audio plays on every design. And if you do not have a site yet, a voice actor website is free to start.
