About University of Pittsburgh
The University of Pittsburgh is a member of the by-invitation-only Association of American Universities, comprising the top 62 comprehensive research universities in North America. Pitt is home to 16 undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools, including an internationally renowned health sciences educational and research complex responsible for such major medical advances as the Salk polio vaccine, multiple-organ transplantation, and breast cancer treatment; more than 300 centers, institutes, laboratories, and clinics; and four regional campuses. Its five-campus system offers more than 450 degree programs. Pitt is also affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where new standards have been set for concussion treatment in professional sports and regenerative medicine approaches are being developed for healing injuries.
