Hello actors! I am a professionally trained actor who ended up directing community theatre instead because I preferred a consistent paycheck and now I’d like to use some of my old experience acting to teach a class/workshop. One for youth (not sure the age yet) and one for adults. I’d like to start a workshop where act…

The ideal candidate has a clear, natural American English voice, good communication skills, and a reliable work ethic. **Candidates with an IT or software development background are preferred**, but it's not a strict requirement. **Project Det…

They often possess a wide range of vocal skills, enabling them to create distinct and memorable character voices. Voice actors may also perform in radio dramas,…

Start with the drill. Before you touch a vowel, find the lilt. Say this out loud: "The red river runs past the little town." Flat, the way you'd read a news bulletin. Now say it again, but let the stressed syllables climb. TA-ble rides up the scale. Little rides up. Town rides up. Not louder, higher. Welsh stress isn't…

Hello! If an actor would be willing to answer my question I would be eternally grateful. When an actor finishes a job (wraps a tv show, movie, play) where they loved and were emotionally attached to the character they played (and became emotionally intimate with the other actors on the project) - can that actor feel sa…

So a little over a year and a half ago, I posted what I thought was an ok self made demo reel. The feedback was brutal, but somewhat constructive. First time in a long time since my rejection sensitivity dysphoria was right, but I got back up, followed some advice and made my way to Jennifer Hales' skillshub site. Last…

Hey everyone! I'm interested in pursuing acting, and one of my long-term goals is to audition for American Horror Story. I'm a complete beginner with no professional acting experience or credits yet. I'm also currently living outside the United States, so I'm trying to understand what the realistic path into the Americ…

First things first, I am not a VO actor. My voice penetrates the walls of our office due to "lightweight" construction. My office neighbor regularly tells me how he listens to my phone and Teams conversations. Short of covering my walls in sound-deadening foam, is there anything I can use that would help control how mu…

I have done Acting I, Acting II, and Film I. I am branching out to Catapult and even attending my first film class there tomo…

Do you we are safe as voice actors? I recently joined this industry and what I can see is some employers who are paying way below industry standards and worst case is these voices are used to train AI.

I’ve been acting since I was a child but just started as a working actor this year. Is it normal to have indie directors ask if you have lingerie, and to meet one on one? My gut tells me no but I thought I’d ask. Happened to me twice this week in Arizona and I turned down both.

Professional Musical Theatre actor based in the UK here. I had a first round audition this Monday. Recalls are next Monday. I’ve had instances where people will find out that I am an actor and then they’ll tell me to quickly do a dialogue or monologue in front of them. I usually get self-conscious and find it uncomfortable. It would be different if I was doing it for a job or on set somewhere. I’m starting to wonder if this is normal or I’m…

SAG Actor in LA, I got kind of lucky and had tons of auditons and two bookings this year, but it has died down considerably. I had a feeling this would happen, but fall is usually busy for me, auditon wise. Are we already in the holiday slump? it feels deader than usual, I will say summer was pretty dead.

I'm an amateur actor and sometimes get gigs in local tv shows. I just watched an episode i filmed early this year and oh my God, i can't stand looking at myself. Self-tapes are now the primary gateway to booking work but you do not need an expensive home studio to deliver a competitive audition.
